Chicago Cubs. We swing. At EVERYTHING.

Ok. So Game 4 in the bag for the Nationals, and it's Game 5 in Washington. But let us all be honest, that was painfully avoidable. One World Series ring will not take out the most classic of Cubs traits. Inconsistency. It has plagued the ballclub for decades, and is creeping in once again.

So, the team is clearly effected by the rain out. Definately. The League handled it horribly, and this all worked against the Cubs who finally had some momentum. I mean, if you can't see out a home game against a team managed by Dusty Baker, then you have real problems. Rain out or not. Right guys? Right?

Wrong. The Nationals weren't great. Harper may as well have just gone back to Washington and waited for Game 5 (it's the Cubs. There was always going to be a Game 5). Or just hopped on a plane to New York.... like that's any kind of secret. Strasburg put in a Strasburg esque display of K after K. The Cubs acted like a wasp had entered their office cubicle, and decided to swat at everything within 50 feet of the strike zone. This inevitably made it easier for the Strasburg'd one, who proceeded to fan everyone in a Cubs uniform who had a pulse. (In the cases of Bryant and Rizzo, i'm not even sure of that).

Arrieta had his struggles, but again, your playing a Dusty Baker team. It was still a 1 run game, despite Arrieta walking more people than a Pantera song. So in steps Jon Lester. Mr Dependable. He has some very dependable innings. All seems good. 1 run in it. Surely the Cubs can bring this back. Right? RIGHT?

Wrong again Amigo. In comes Carl Edwards Jr. Now, if Arrieta walks more than a Pantera song, then Edwards Jr walks more than a Pantera and Foo Fighters mash up. So he loads the bases, as he is want to do, and Wade Davis decides to give up a Grand Slam. We have a Game 5 ladies.

However, even as soul destroying that is, the game shouldn't have been close. The reigning, defending champions cannot give up like that, no matter how good Strasburg is. The hitters aren't performing, and the relievers are leaking more runs than a faulty tap. The bottom line is, there will be no World Series for the Cubs. They will be lucky to get to the ALCS. It's all well and good shouting for "Respect" Anthony Rizzo. All well and good. Act like someone who should be pitched around and maybe you would be. If i'm a pitcher, I'm not scared Rizzo will hit, never mind take me long. So next time, wait until the series is in the bag, eh?

Cubs fans, myself included, welcome to reality. Winning..... was nice knowing you buddy.
